The Original 1979 Made For TV Mini Series, based on the Stephen King novel, grabs you and does not let go. David Soul plays Ben Mears and he is riveting in his role as the author turned investigator. Mears is trying to understand the small town of Jerusalem's Lot and begins to discover more and more bizarre and terrifying details in every additional step in his findings. James Mason as Straker is tremendous and Lance Kerwin as Mark Petrie is very solid as well. This is a wonderful made for TV vampire film and covers the Stephen King novel very well. The special makeup and set design lend to a feeling of dread in every scene. David Soul and James Mason are terrific and Mason steals each scene he is in. The mood and atmosphere are tremendously spooky. Tobe Hooper does a fantastic job at giving the movie a consistently eerie atmosphere and sense of dread. An excellent adaptation of the infamous Stephen King vampire novel. David Soul and the other supporting cast is outstanding.
